Out ‘N’ About

Some of our favourite days out in Cork – worth the visit!

Fota Wildlife Park

fota giraffe

A very worthwhile day out for the whole family. Lots of wildlife to see, The children can get up close and personal with the geese, chickens, ducks (Fionn’s favourite part!) Many animals roam around freely (where possible) whilst with bigger animals only a barrier separates you from them(very safe). Plenty of picnic areas when its time to grab a bite to eat and playgrounds to keep the little ones entertained. There is also an onsite train that gives you a tour of the park for a €1 oneway or €2 return p/p (children are usually free)

We joined this year with the Conservation Membership option because “pay as you go” visits can end up quite costly.

Family Ticket: 2 Adults + 2 Children €48 (under 3 go free!)

where as the yearly ticket;

Conservation Memebership: Member +2Adults +2 Children €178. Pays itself in only 4 visits. See more at www.fotawildlife.ie

Parking €3 or if you’re coming from the city pop on the train that will bring you directly to Fota Wildlife Park

Fitzgerald’s Parkfionn in fitz park

Fitzgerald Park just minutes away from Cork City centre is situated on the picturesque bank of the river Lee and spans approximately eighteen acres with swings & slides, manicured gardens and Cork Public Museum located at its centre. This park has been recently renovated with fun sculptures and garden landscapes and a fab playground (more suitable for children aged 5+).

There are also some great festivals held at the park during the summer. Such as:

The Street Performance World Festival – a free festival for everyone with lots of fun, wacky entertainment throughout the day!

Cork Midsummer Festival & The Cork Food & Music Fest
